Difference between Aluminum tire studs and Steel tire studs

September 20, 2024

Aluminum tire studs are lightweight and have good corrosion resistance, but relatively low strength. Mostly used for light objects or do not need to withstand excessive pressure occasions, such as bicycles, some light equipment.

Steel tire studs are strong and resistant to abrasion, but relatively heavy and prone to rust. However, at present, the surface of steel tire studs will be galvanized to strengthen the rust-resistant effect of steel tire studs.

The color of steel studs is brighter than aluminum studs, and the slip resistance of both depends on the design and finish, but steel studs are usually better able to cope with high friction demands.

Steel tire studs perform better in terms of load carrying capacity and durability, but aluminum tire studs are better suited for certain environments, such as wet environments.

Steel tire studs generally have better abrasion resistance than aluminum tire studs and can maintain their performance over long periods of time. Aluminum tire studs are lightweight and easy to carry and install due to their low density.

You can choose anti-skid studs made of different materials according to the characteristics of the equipment and the usage environment. For higher hardness, rust and oxidation resistance needs you can choose customized steel. After galvanized, we can provide corrosion resistance test for steel tire studs, usually 24 hours and up to 60 hours. Before leaving the factory, Jinxin will conduct salt spray test on the products and issue salt spray test report.
